Fimmano Design Studio understands that the best design comes from a completely integrated approach from conception to completion. We have a strong creative team which collaborates forming part of our studio culture which is integral to gaining insight and knowledge into different disciplines and ways of thinking. We do this through collaborating with our clients; other designers; specialist sub consultants, builders and subcontractors, ensuring that we have the knowledge base to create buildings that are environmentally sustainable and uplifting to use.
D e s i g n
Our design is driven by a belief that the quality of our surroundings has a direct influence on the quality of our lives, whether at home, in the workplace, the cultural building or the public realm.
Design in that sense is all-embracing, ranging from the functional and environmental performance of a building to a concern for its physical and cultural context. Not least is a concern for the 'poetic' dimension, such as we find in the modelling and sculpting of spaces by natural light.
I n t e r i o r s
We believe that design should provide a seamless experience, from outside to inside. The starting point is to gain an understanding of a client’s needs and the way in which a room, or sequence of spaces will be used. We have created interiors that span the spectrum from private houses to retail spaces; from Sporting facilities to industrial buildings.
The quality of light, the choice of materials, the use of colour, and the selection of furnishings and works of art are coordinated as part of the overall scheme; and each element involves the same process of questioning and refinement as the building itself.
D e s i g n S u p p o r t
Models are at the heart of the design process. They can communicate a project to a client more effectively than any other medium; and they can help the designer explore aspects of a scheme or refine complex details.
We have in house model making facilities integrated within the studio making models to test ideas from the massing designs stages of projects right through to detailed mock-up models.
Construction Documentation
Good design needs to be reinforced with accuracy and attention to detail. A superior level of development and construction documentation ensures that every aspect of the proposed building design has been covered, from relevant council requirements and submissions to fully detailed construction and room data representations.
Site Control Assurance & Contract Administration Assistance
Fimmano Design studio has a Site Control Assurance service which is a consultancy role consisting of regular site inspections and assistance with construction queries during the construction stage of the project. Undertaking inspections as necessary in order to be satisfied that the construction works executed are in general accordance with the Construction Documentation. Paired with their Contract Administration Assistance service which is a consultancy role consisting of assisting the client with the contract administration of the project during the construction stages of the project ensures a seamless continuation from conception to completion.

The practice operates on a project team basis in a collaborative atmosphere lead by Domenico as design director. The practice has seen its main focus on individual house design
expand to larger scale projects as commercial projects, medium density housing and retail Projects.

Since its establishment in 1990, Fimmano Design Studio has proudly undertaken a large number of successful design projects that range from residential, commercial, retail and hospitality.
The practice is driven by a consistent philosophical approach, not a predetermined style. As a result it aims to create specifically
detailed building that area intimately onnected to context and function.
The work of Fimmano Design Studio is based upon a solid foundation of design excellence, budget and design brief control, proficient project management and the achievement of best value and architectural quality.
We believe that high quality design results from the continuity of the design process and the intensive dialogue. Dialogue with the client,
consultants, manufactures, contractors and end users. We work closely together to ensure the best results and achieved through a synthesis of concept, beauty and functional integration.

On induction of any project, Fimmano Design Studio utilises a client focused design methodology, to ensure a level of design
excellence and project detail that covers all aspects of the development cycle. Highly organised internal processes and systems coupled with a comprehensive Quality Assurance program ensure all projects are completed to both the client and the relevant authority’s specifications.
Fundamental to a successful design is the creation of the design brief. The client’s goals can never be answered without complete
and total understanding of all their needs and objectives. By actively listening to our clients, Fimmano Design Studio can ensure absolute understanding and clarification of the initial design brief. A comfortable relationship combined with open communication channels, also ensures that the client has direct and personal involvement at every stage of the design process.
With a brief finalised, Fimmano Design Studio undertakes a carefully detailed process of developing schematic designs, design developments and model making to ensure a complete visualisation of the roposed design. This allows for a clear visualisation for the client on all aspects of their proposed design, balancing site orientation, building scale, human interaction and function into a clear and concise vision.

Domenico is the principle founding Director of Fimmano Design Studio. A graduate at the Sydney Institute with a Diploma in Building
Design and an accredited member of the Building Designs Association of Australia, Domenico has over 28 years of professional
experience in the fields of Building Design, Interior Design and Construction Documentation.
Domenico has broad experience of working on a wide variety of public, community, retail and residential projects throughout New South Wales. A unique industry experience has seen him successfully complete numerous design and development projects both in Australia and overseas. Driven by his own desire to harness his career-long skills and passion, Domenico Fimmano founded his own successful practice in the year of 1990.
Domenico leans strongly toward innovation in his architecture and implementation of better design processes. His buildings are tailored to the individual requirements of clients and particular care is taken whilst designing to preserve sites while designing to the requirements of the surrounding climate.
